The Blog has found a new home!

April 14, 2010

This blog has been moved  over to my studio’s new website!

It took a few days to get it set up, but I now have shiny new digs for the contents of this blog.

Simply head on over to to continue following my latest goings-on, sign up for the RSS feed, and see my latest work.

The site will feature my growing portfolio of new published work, original art for sale, studio news, works in progress, and my daily warm-ups!

A new daily warm-up has already been posted and awaits your enjoyment.

See you there!

Daily warm-up for April 8th. Magi.

The latest strangeness from my tablet.

And I picked up my new printer, an Epson R1900. I’m looking forward to offering some nice quality prints at cons in the future as well as incorporating it into my work flow as so many of my arty friends have successfully done.

I am editing the next episode of the Ninja Mountain Podcast. We turn 60 this week!

The show has 2 segments. One recorded by the UK clan and one recorded on North American soil. Very nice! It should be good fun when it’s all pasted together. 🙂

Onwards to the painting for today.

Daily warm-up for April 6th. Gladiator.

I’ve been watching Starz Original Series “Spartacus” each week and have been really enjoying the show. I guess that’s where this comes from.

I’m also a fan of Dungeons and Dragons Dark Sun campaign setting from back in the day. No doubt that played into this as well.

Good fun!

Back to painting!

Daily Warm-up for April 5th.

April 5, 2010

Anothere Monday is upon us and I am back in the studio.

I worked the weekend away believe it or not and wrapped up an under-painting for a dragon illustration.

It is coming along swimmingly and I am beginning the over-glazing and final painting stage today.

Can’t wait to share it here. 🙂

Episode 59 of Ninja Mountain and a new printer!

April 2, 2010

No time for a sketch session today.

I had a podcast to edit together. 🙂

Episode 59 is available for the listening at the Ninja Mountain Scrolls.

My buddy, “Prof” came on the show and we had a great time peppering the poor man with questions. A couple of Brits return to the show as well for a fun segment on their current projects. Very cool.

I also set out yesterday to order myself a shiny new Epson R 1900 printer.

It’ll be the newest tool in my studio arsenal and will allow me to more quickly size up sketches to painting dimensions. It can print to watercolor paper and board ( I am told).

I see a lot of experimentation coming up as I find ways to streamline my workflow.

Plus, I’ll be able to make better quality prints for sale at shows. The ink set on this puppy is top-notch and are pigment-based rather than dye. This makes the prints much more resilient.

Can’t wait to crank it up!

Daily warm-up for April 1st. Spiner…

April 1, 2010

Yesterday we recorded the U.S. portion of the Ninja Mountain Podcast and Jon Hodgson sat down with Andy Hepworth for a segment.  I am editing it up today and will get it posted some time tomorrow probably.

Painting on other projects continues in earnest. I’m painting a dragon right now which is most exciting for me.

I love me some dragons. 🙂

I’ll be sure to share it here when I’m done. Progress shots are being taken so I can post them along with the finished art soon.

Back to it!
